REPUBLIC OF SKOVIA ARMY
EQUIPMENT:
BACKGROUND:
The Republic of Skovia Army (R.O.S.A.) serves as the primary ground force and operational backbone of the Skovian government. Its ranks blend professional soldiers with conscripts. Elite infantry and special operations units are largely career men, while line infantry and support elements are sustained through mandatory two year conscription.
The rise of the Skovian Nationalists has dragged the army into a grinding counterinsurgency of search and destroy sweeps, urban clearances, and military policing across a countryside that increasingly resents them. R.O.S.A. soldiers see themselves as defenders of Skovia's legitimate government, loyal to the King and committed to restoring order to a nation still emerging from its communist past. But small unit commanders are often granted broad autonomy, operating with little oversight and near impunity in their pursuit of SKN forces. The result is a reputation for heavy handed tactics, with allegations of excessive force and allegations of extrajudicial killings that have only complicated their standing among the people they claim to protect.
After assisting Coalition forces during the Global War on Terror, the Republic of Skovia came under Western scrutiny for alleged human rights violations. Citing the harsh treatment of Skovian protestors and questionable conduct under the Lukaz regime, the West severed ties with the Skovian Republic. As NATO aid vanished, Russia stepped in to support its former satellite state both economically and militarily. This renewed partnership brought an ongoing presence of Russian foreign advisors, providing training and equipment to R.O.S.A. forces.
R.O.S.A. forces can be identified by their use of Multicam along with surplus DCU-pattern uniforms left over from the GWOT era, paired with a growing supply of modern Russian small arms and gear. Standard infantry formations field a mix of leftover AR-pattern rifles and modern Russian small-arms, while advanced capabilities such as night vision devices and modern optics are typically reserved for elite infantry and special operations units.
SKN
the skovian nationalists
BACKGROUND:
The Skovian Nationalists (S.K.N.) rose from the ashes of the June 2020 riots, when ordinary citizens took up arms against the King's increasingly brutal rule. What began as a scattered uprising hardened into a disciplined nationalist militia, drawing its strength from an unlikely mix of idealistic young zealots and battle hardened veterans of Skovia's armed forces.
United under their mantra, "For Skovia," the SKN claims to fight for the liberation of the Skovian people and the establishment of a government led by its citizens. Yet rapid expansion has come at a cost. As the war drags on, the group's founding ideals have begun to fracture, with anger and vengeance increasingly overshadowing the cause. Some units hold to a disciplined focus on liberation, while others have earned a reputation for ruthlessness, with mounting reports of kidnappings, executions, and civilian casualties dismissed as the price of revolution. Once hailed as liberators, the SKN now stands somewhere between freedom fighter and insurgent.
Equipment:
As Skovia's civil war drew international attention, the nation's farmland, resources, and industrial potential made it a strategic prize. Foreign actors moved quietly to influence the outcome, funneling weapons, training, and advisors to the SKN in a bid to topple the King and secure a foothold in the region.
The SKN presents a far less uniform appearance than their ROSA counterparts. Fighters are commonly outfitted in a patchwork of commercial and surplus gear, including earth-tone fatigues, civilian hunting camouflage, and captured government equipment stripped from fallen ROSA soldiers. Their arsenal reflects the same improvisation, with aging Soviet-era weapons and hunting rifles in the hands of newer recruits, supplemented by modern small arms, optics, and night vision smuggled in by their foreign backers. As outside support grows, frontline SKN units have begun fielding equipment that rivals, and at times exceeds, that of the King's own soldiers.
